Computer Science courses aim to equip students with knowledge of the foundations of the subject area and the skills necessary to apply their discipline to real-world problems. In our rapidly changing world, the demand for jobs in Information Technology is growing. The Computer Science department can give pupils the skills they need to succeed in this exciting industry, whether it be digital forensics, ethical hacking or game making.
The department has three dedicated Computer Suites equipped with the latest hardware and software. As well as the standard Microsoft applications, Henry’s also has the latest Adobe Suite of Software. An additional, much larger room is available for use by all teaching staff who want to use ICT in their teaching.
What we do:
Key Stage 3 students are taught a range of Computer Science topics. Key Stage 4 students can opt to take a GCSE in Computer Science. Students are then able to continue on to Advanced Level.
For three lunchtimes each week there is an ICT club where students are able to develop their Computer Science skills, or do any homework that requires them to use ICT to produce it. Year 12 Computer Science students are on hand to offer help.
